The Schooner Endeavour staked a claim on the America’s Cup, winning the first two races. The third regatta was bound to be the most exciting. Available NOW. Fate played an unkind trick to Sir Thomes Sopwith, who failed and thus couldn’t win the America’s Cup. The Endeavour Model Yacht's deck is full of details. Gorgeous looking in solid mahogany. This model yacht was all hand built scale down from the original boats by skillful craftsmen. Hundred of hours were spent to put strips of wood together using plank on frame method. All the sails are adjustable with working lines. The masts and sails are folded down, assemble in minutes. There are six sizes of the Endeavour Yacht. We carry three of them: Item # Y068 - 60L x 12W x 75H (cm) Item # Y018 - 100L x 20W x 115H (cm) Item # Y019 - 150L x 35W x 210H (cm) History: Endeavour, a 130 foot J-Class sloop, was commissioned by British airplane magnate Sir T.O.M. Sopwith to challenge the New York Yacht Club for the America 's Cup in 1934. Built by Camper & Nicholson of Gosport , England under the supervision of Englishman Frank Murdoch, she narrowly lost to America 's Rainbow. Widely regarded as one of the world's most beautiful yachts, Endeavour was returned to England and raced until 1938 with much success. After WWII, she passed through many hands and fell into disrepair. In 1984 she was purchased by Elizabeth Meyer of Rhode Island and restored to her former glory.
